Katie is a postdoc in the Subramanya lab. After completing her undergraduate degree in South Korea, she moved to Pittsburgh in 2017 to pursue a PhD. Her doctoral research in the Brodsky lab at the Department of Biological Sciences at Pitt is focused on identifying and characterizing disease-associated variants in the renal potassium channel ROMK. For her current research, she is interested in studying the role of With-no-Lysine (WNK) kinases, particularly how these kinases regulate cell volume and renal physiology. Outside of research, she enjoys reading mystery novels and trying new restaurants, as well as watching sports.
